This is a full-time, permanent position, located at Department of Corrections Headquarters in Tumwater, Washington. -- Our mission at the Department of Corrections (DOC) is to 'improve public safety by positively changing lives'. For additional information about our agency, please visit (see application details) -- The Department of Corrections (DOC) utilizes a centralized Accounts Payable Administration model to provide financial services to 12 prisons, 16 work release facilities, 101 Community Corrections field offices, Community Justice Centers, (COP) Shops, and outstations, and our Agency Headquarters, all geographically disbursed throughout the State of Washington.-- The centralized Accounts Payable department will process combined vendor payments for the agency in excess of $327 million annually. -- As a journey level technician, this position is responsible for fiscal related support services to ensure the efficient and effective operation of disbursements processing and maintenance of the computerized disbursement and financial reporting system for the DOC Accounts Payable classified as "general disbursements."-- The position's primary objective is to ensure accurate and timely specialty payments processing to the Agency's vendors and employees. -- To be considered for this position, please attach the following to your online application: A detailed, chronological resume, and Letter of Interest that outlines how you meet the qualifications for this position, and A minimum of three (3) professional references with your application. Duties Key responsibilities of a Fiscal Technician 2 include, but are not limited to: Performs journey level accounting duties in accordance with GAAP, OFM, and DOC policies and procedures.-- Adheres to established internal accounting systems for assigned payment processing and expenditure tracking. Inputs batches accurately into AFRS either by direct keying or utilizing AFRS Toolbox interface.-- Create and run accurate reports in Web Intelligence and Enterprise Reporting for payment verification or research. Final audits of payment batches Open and distribute mail Qualifications Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. One Accounting class (semester 3.0 or 5.0 quarter hours).-- Additional accounting credits above the minimum requirements may be substituted based upon one Accounting class (semester 3.0 or 5.0 quarter hours) for one year of experience. Accounting 201 (have up to 6 months to complete). Basic skill level or above in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Outlook. -- SKILLS/ABILITIES: Well organized. Accurate and attentive to detail. Excellent communications and public relations abilities. Strong typing and computer application skills. Ability to work in a team setting and assist and support others. Ability to operate telephone, PC, copier, and other basic business machines. Ability to establish effective work methods. Ability to multitask and work in an open workspace environment with frequent distractions.---- -- Desired Qualifications: At least two years of office experience or fiscal related work experience. One college level business class can be substituted for one year of work experience.-- Developing level of accounting/bookkeeping experience is preferred. Tolerant to stress by effectively handling highly stressful or adverse situations, making good decisions, working calmly and accurately and helping to calm others.-- Must have high level of integrity and ethics.-- The ability to effectively express and convey ideas and information that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the audience.
