Office of Finance, Budget and Economics is actively seeking a Fiscal Technician 2 for the Accounts Payable unit. The duty station is in the DNR building in Olympia.This position reports directly to the Accounts Payable Supervisor in the Office of Finance, Budget & Economics. This position is required to analyze and interpret reports produced by the department's reporting system (Data Mart), Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS) and the agency's payable system (FES), the agency's receivables system (NaturE). To interpret and apply fiscal regulation and procedures from Washington Administrative Code, General Accounting Standards, State Contracts, SAAM and OFM guidelines and Agency policies and procedures to the processing of accounts payable. Ensure procedural fiscal compliance, accuracy, and deadlines are met.The position processes data for division expenditures and reviews reports from financial systems to ensure correct Accounts Payable program coding standards are maintained. Prepares and maintains fiscal records while compiling and ensure accuracy of reports. Enters payments into the cash receipts journal. Collaborates with unit lead and supervisor and coordinates the distribution of payables to fiscal staff for processing. Assists with additional fiscal tasks as assigned by unit lead or supervisor. Provides direction for other fiscal and division staff regarding coding, processing and documentation requirements as related to Accounts Payable. Position frequently interacts with contractors, vendors, DNR region and division staff at all levels and other state agency personnel.What will we trust you with?

      • Two years or more of fiscal experience or 15 quarter or 9 semester college-level accounting hours.
      • Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office Excel & Word and other computer systems.
      • Experience and proficiency using a 10-key adding machine and accurate keyboarding skills
      • Basic knowledge of accounting principles with experience in accounts payable
      • Ability to be focused and to prioritize work to meet inflexible deadlines while dealing with constant interruptions
      • Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy with a heavy workload applying attention to detail in everyday tasks.
      • Consistent ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with co-workers and diverse clientele.
      • Ability to research, interpret and explain OFM & DES requirements, WACs, RCW's, Agency policies and procedures, fiscal controls and other applicable regulations.Desirable Qualifications:
        • Advanced experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
        • Knowledge of state payables processes and procedures.
        • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), specifically accounts payable, revenue, and accounts receivable.
