If so, we have an exciting job for you! We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented software engineer to work in the Department of Licensing User Experience Team. This Team supports one of the most popular Washington State Government websites, ********** and is instrumental in making Department of Licensing's websites and digital services as usable as possible for all of Washington's residents. In this role, you will be the technical expert in accessibility, prototyping and developing user interfaces, testing, championing the agency's design system and supporting the agency's internal and external websites. You will work closely with internet and intranet webmasters, UX specialists, information technology specialists and product owners to create new and support existing services and websites. Please Note This position will be classified in the Application Development job family at the Journey level. Prior to a new hire, a background check, including criminal record history, will be conducted. Required Qualifications Applicants who possess the following qualifications may be referred to the hiring manager: Two years of experience using web page and design software to develop websites with navigation, cascading style sheets (CSS), and a semantic file structure. Two years of experience creating, editing, and debugging web pages and style sheets using HTML, CSS, and other web technologies including experience editing and format multimedia and troubleshooting website issues. Two years of experience using Content Management Systems. Two years of experience designing and coding web sites using standards and concepts of good web design, content, and interaction. Preferred Qualifications Applicants who also possess the following may receive additional consideration by the hiring manager: Certificates and training in accessibility testing, front-end web technology frameworks or other related technologies Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications & Media, Liberal Arts, Design, Information Technology, or closely related field. Experience and/or knowledge of software development cycles and Agile methodologies. Experience and/or knowledge managing web projects from start to finish. Experience and/or knowledge of effective web interaction design standards and concepts, accessibility, including designing for mobile/handheld devices. Experience and/or knowledge leading teams and influencing outcomes without having direct supervisory authority. Experience and/or knowledge of accessibility principles and methods (WCAG 2.1 and Policy #188). Experience and/or knowledge in Quality Assurance (QA), accessibility, and usability testing and techniques. Experience and/or knowledge with website usability concepts, testing, and reporting.
