Overview:Our client, a well-known and established engineering, surveying, and planning firm, seeks a Land Development Engineer to join their growing team. The ideal candidate for this role will lead a team of project managers and engineers in addition to carrying out the design of residential and commercial development sites.Our client wants a professional who is an expert at working closely with clients and their own team to direct the completion of the design, stay within budget and on schedule, and oversee the permitting process and implementation.The ideal candidate must have a passion for design and engineering as they work with a team of highly skilled designers and technical staff.This is a long-term, direct-hire role located in Olympia, WA. Pay Range: $150,000-195,000A few of the perks:

  • Lead a team of civil engineers and project managers
  • Prepare and lead development of civil engineering designs, construction drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and schedules for a variety of projects
  • Establish and grow client relations, develop proposals and budgets, initiate business development opportunities
  • Lead initial project layouts that are code compliant and meet client needs, including leading any project appeals
  • Oversee permitting process and strategies to help our clients meet their project deadlines, including attending project hearings
  • Mentor the design associates on technical matters and procedures in addition to being a technical resource to staff
  • Develop fee estimates for all project types and ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within scope and budget
  • Prepare and conduct a technical review of staff, reports, correspondence, and calculations and prepare technical recommendations
  • Prepare a variety of proposals with limited supervision
  • Ensure that QA/QC procedures are implemented within design teams
  • Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve quality and efficiency
  • Participate in professional and/or technical organizationsRequirements:
    • BS Degree in Civil Engineering required, MS preferred
    • 10+ years of progressively responsible engineering and management experience required, 15+ years preferred
    • Land development project experience required
    • Professional Engineering (PE) license required; multi-state preferred
    • Experienced in preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates and providing engineering support services during construction of municipal projects
    • Experienced in the permit process and permitting strategies
    • Ability to understand land use code in the development of project layouts and feasibility reports
    • Complex problem solving ability
    • Staff management, leadership ability and mentoring skills
    • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint required
    • Ability and willingness to develop business from new and existing clients
    • Strong local and client ties with area clients that require civil engineering and related services, preferred
    • Detail-oriented, organized, multi-tasking and good follow-through skills
    • Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts visually, verbally and in written communication in order to communicate effectively with various departments, clients, and agencies
    • Excellent time management and project task management skills
