are seeking a talented and innovative Design Engineer 2 to join our
dynamic team, specializing in electric and lit mirror products. In
this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and
optimizing mirrors with integrated LED, audio, and visual
solutions. Your work will directly impact product performance,
aesthetics, and user experience. The ideal candidate will have a
proven work history in the lighting industry / commercial
electronics, a strong engineering background, creativity in design,
problem-solving, and a passion for delivering high-quality,
functional products. The candidate will also have Project
Management skills to handle multiple projects at once, working
cross-functionally with Sales, Production, and customers, and will
be able to work unsupervised, taking concept drawings and
renderings through engineering and directing fabrication and
manufacturing teams to achieve their design intent. Key
Responsibilities Product Design & Development: Design and develop
electric mirrors and lit mirror products from concept through to
production, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and
manufacturability. Create detailed technical and Sales drawings, 3D
models, and prototypes using CAD software (SolidWorks). Integrate
lighting systems and electrical components, ensuring compliance
with UL safety standards and building / electrical code
regulations. Proficiency in SolidWorks sheet metal tools.
Engineering Analysis & Testing: Using the tools provided, perform
engineering and electrical calculations to validate design
performance and reliability. Conduct thorough testing of prototypes
and existing products to identify and resolve design issues.
Analyze test results and incorporate feedback into design
improvements. Work with production personnel to develop new
manufacturing methods to solve problems. Cross-Functional
Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, sales teams, and
manufacturing departments to align design objectives with customer
needs and production capabilities. Analytical skills to make value
production decisions in a lean manufacturing environment.
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source components and
materials, ensuring they meet quality and cost requirements.
Innovation & Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging
technologies, and best practices related to electric and lit mirror
products. Propose innovative solutions and design enhancements to
improve product performance and user experience. Documentation &
Compliance: Develop and maintain comprehensive design
documentation, including specifications, drafting, and Bill of
Materials. Document revisions for parts, assemblies, and BOMs
Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations,
and environmental guidelines. Requirements: Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Product Design, or
related field with equivalent experience. Proven experience in
designing and developing related products, with a strong portfolio
demonstrating relevant skills and projects. Proficiency in CAD
software (SolidWorks) and expertise with sheet metal design tools.
Candidates will be asked to complete a 1hr SolidWorks sheet metal
competence task at the interview. Solid understanding of electrical
components, lighting systems, and manufacturing processes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong
communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work
effectively in a collaborative environment. Manufacturing
environment experience; working with production personnel in a
direct capacity. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
and meet deadlines with a fast turnaround time. Preferred Skills:
Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and Product Data
Management (PDM)systems. Sheet metal fabrication experience,
welding, and forming. Experience with ERP and MRP systems (Epicor
Vantage / Kinetic) Driveworks or other automated systems.
Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70, UL 962, and UL 1598 certifications.
Working with offshore vendors. Benefits: $72,000-$85,000 yearly
