Job Description:
Define What Trustworthy AI Looks Like at Amazon's Scale Alexa is
Amazon's next-generation, generative AI-powered assistant — and
trust is its most important feature. As the AI Principal PMT for
Alexa Responsible AI, you won't just manage a product roadmap - You
will define the standard for how one of the world's most widely
used AI systems earns and keeps customer trust across every
language, culture, device, and interaction. This is a role for a
product leader who thinks systematically, moves fast, and has the
conviction to make hard calls when the stakes are real. The Mission
Responsible AI isn't a compliance checkbox. It's a product
discipline and you will own it. You'll define the customer
experience for safety guardrails, trust signals, and evaluation
frameworks that determine whether Alexa is earning or eroding
customer confidence. You'll make the go/no-go calls on features
that affect millions of daily interactions — with the data, the
customer story, and the scientific grounding to back every
decision. What You'll Own Product Vision & Strategy In today's AI
landscape, strategy is written in weeks, not years. You'll set a
bold, adaptive product vision for Responsible AI — defining
near-term priorities with urgency while keeping a clear eye on
where the technology and the customer need are heading. You'll
author crisp vision documents that align science, engineering,
policy, and legal teams around a shared north star for customer
trust. You'll establish the KPIs that measure trust at scale and
build the review mechanisms that surface regressions before
customers ever encounter them. Cross-Functional Leadership Across
Alexa and Devices This role operates at the intersection of some of
Amazon's most consequential product decisions. You'll lead
alignment across Applied Science, Engineering, Legal, Policy, and
UX — not just within your immediate team, but across Alexa and
Devices organizations at large. You'll be the connective tissue
that turns ambiguous safety challenges into concrete, shippable
solutions that scale across the full Alexa ecosystem. You'll
partner with Applied Scientists to translate breakthrough safety
research — RLHF, reward modeling, adversarial robustness — into
production-ready customer experiences. You'll navigate the
regulatory and policy landscape proactively, partnering with Legal
and Policy before new capabilities create new risks. And you'll
represent Responsible AI priorities in senior leadership reviews,
making the case for investment with airtight data and compelling
customer impact. Breadth of Ownership Your scope spans the full
responsible product experience: safety guardrails and trust
frameworks, privacy and security implementation, and experiences
designed for our most vulnerable customers — including children.
You'll ensure that as Alexa grows more capable, it grows more
trustworthy across every dimension that matters to customers and
regulators alike. Technical Product Depth You understand how LLMs
fail — hallucination, value misalignment, adversarial inputs — well
enough to write requirements that solve the problem, not just
describe it. You'll author the product requirements that guide
safety model development, evaluation system design, and
certification processes. When new capabilities create new risks,
you'll frame the tradeoff, propose the mitigation, and drive the
decision. Organizational Impact You'll mentor PMs across the org,
raising the bar on how the team thinks about safety as a product
discipline. You'll influence without authority across one of
Amazon's most cross-functional domains — and you'll shape how
Responsible AI scales across Alexa and partner teams worldwide.
What We're Looking For * Deep experience shipping AI or
trust-and-safety products at scale — you've navigated the full arc
from research to production in high-stakes environments * Technical
fluency in LLMs and AI safety — you understand how modern language
models work, how they fail, and what it takes to make them safer *
Track record of influencing without authority — across science,
engineering, policy, and legal, at the most senior levels *
Exceptional written communication — you write documents that move
organizations and create new product categories * Bias for
decisions over deliberation — you're comfortable operating in
ambiguity and know when good-enough-now beats perfect-later *
Passion for responsible AI — you believe that safety and trust are
competitive advantages, not constraints * BS/MS/PhD in Computer
Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent
experience) A day in the life You're reviewing a new Alexa
capability with your science partner — excited about what it can
do, clear-eyed about where it could fail. You write the requirement
that captures both. You're in a senior leadership review making the
case for a safety investment that doesn't have an obvious revenue
line — and you win it because your data is airtight and your
customer story is compelling. You're unblocking an engineering team
by making a hard call on scope. You're handling a complex customer
escalation that requires clear thinking and fast judgment. You're
mentoring a PM who's learning to treat trust as a feature, not a
constraint. This is where product leadership meets real-world
responsibility — and where your decisions shape the future of AI
that hundreds of millions of people rely on every day. About the
team Our team pioneers Responsible AI for Alexa and Amazon's
conversational AI systems — ensuring safe, trustworthy experiences
across all devices, modalities, and languages worldwide. We work on
the hardest AI safety challenges at Amazon's scale, moving fast and

customers are counting on us. - 8 years of technical product or
