Anthro-Tech, Inc. seeks a Senior User-Centered Design Manager to perform research & system analysis & design, project management/leadership, org strategy, sales & business development & team management.

JOB DUTIES:

Research and System analysis and design - 45%

Participate in occasional field research per client needs and turn research findings into action-oriented design recommendations.
Design and conduct surveys and usability tests.
Observe, analyze and research how our clients' customers utilize their product (typically a website, mobile application, or software).
Gather requirements and related information by conducting human-centered research such as surveys, interviews, and web analytics to develop personas, information architectures, and design concepts.
Collaborate with project contributors, stakeholders, and interdisciplinary teams to define research projects that help inform design requirements.
Perform both qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.
Identify ways to add new functionality to existing computer systems, oversee the installation and configuration of new systems to customize them for the organization, and conduct testing to ensure that the systems work as expected.
Study an organization's current systems and procedures, and design solutions to help the organization operate more efficiently and effectively.
Execute user-centered redesign of information systems such as websites, mobile apps and software.
Work with clients directly to determine the role of IT systems in an organization, research the organization's efficiency and effectiveness, and prepare an analysis of costs and benefits of a system/infrastructure upgrade to management.

Project management/ leadership - 20%

Lead client projects, collaborating with our team members and clients to tackle large-scale user-centered design projects.
Assign and review the work of researchers, designers, consultants.
Provide expert feedback on user research plans, personas, prototypes or information architectures.
Engage executive and program stakeholders to ensure organizational buy-in and support: stakeholder & subject matter expert interviews, communication, change management.
Lead all phases of the user-centered design process, including user research, personas, information architecture, UX design and iteration.
Coach developers, business analysts, architects and product owners on how to best integrate UX and accessibility in the agile software development cycle.
Onboard staff to specific projects.
Manage project budgets and timelines.
Coordinate projects with internal and external stakeholders.

Organizational strategy -15%

Direct daily operations of programs, analyzing workflows, establishing priorities, developing standards and setting deadlines.
Recruit, hire, train and supervise staff, or participate in staffing decisions.
Assist with determining resource needs.
Develop organizational policies or programs to support team growth.
Document and make improvements to company processes.

Sales and business development - 10%

Collaborate with colleagues to develop comprehensive user-centered design strategies for sales proposals, outlining UX methods and activities to achieve a set of project goals.
Provide consultation and advice to others.
Contribute to sales efforts with current or potential clients.
Track client relationships with our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

Team management - 10%

Manage researchers, designers and consultants, supporting them in their professional growth and building leadership capacity on our team.
Hold 1:1's with team members to check-in on what's working well, what needs improvement in their day-to-day work.
Provide mentorship and performance evaluations to direct reports.
Coach, guide, and motivate direct reports.
Prepare for staff member annual reviews and make recommendations for continued professional growth, contributions to the company and alignment with our core values.
Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships.

May telecommute from within the U.S. Occasional national travel to client sites may be required.



Minimum Requirements: Master's degree* in Human-Centered Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field like MIS or the foreign degree equivalent, and:

3 years experience leading and managing UCD or UX projects in a client-facing consulting role (leading all phases of the user-centered design process, including user research, research synthesis and recommendations, personas, information architecture, UX design, and iteration).
3 years experience advising organizations strategically at the program level across projects and directing designers, researchers, and content strategists utilizing knowledge of usability principles, UX trends and techniques, and agile methodologies.
2 years experience in government consulting, tech consulting, and/ or grant-funded initiatives to include experience over at least one budget cycle.
2 years experience using tools specific to productivity (such as Basecamp and MS Office), project management (like MS Project), data visualization (such as Tableau), qualitative (such as Loop11), and quantitative research (such as Alchemer).
Must hold Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or Design Thinking certification.

Experience may be gained concurrently. *In lieu of a Master's degree, will accept four additional years of experience in the skills and experience listed above.

Position full-time, 40 hours per week, with Anthro-Tech, Inc based in Olympia, WA. May telecommute from within the U.S. Occasional national travel to client sites may be required.
