Job Overview:
Director, Intelligent Automation and Enterprise AI Enablement, is a
dynamic role responsible for equal parts vision and strategy,
technical solution delivery, leadership, coaching and growth of an
equally dynamic product and software development team to scale
T-Mobile's enterprise automation and AI enablement journey. More
specifically, the Director is responsible for vision, ideation,
design, product roadmap and technical build, support and
maintenance, innovation and improvement of the automation/low code
and AI enablement product portfolio/platforms. This includes
technology capabilities that power intelligent agents, and
workforce-centric AI solutions (i.e. universal assistant) within an
Agile driven environment. Initially leading a team of 10 FTE, as
well as teams of onshore and offshore contracting companies, and
managing CAPEX / OPEX budget $15M - $25M. Direct reporting line
includes team(s) of Manager(s), Product Manager(s), Product
Owner(s), technical and solution architecture, DevOps management,
UI / UX, Test, as well as full stack Software Development. The
Director is responsible for achieving or improving core business
product metrics and directly accountable for technology and AI
enablement outcomes.
As a strategist and visionary for the automation, low code, and
applied AI enablement portfolio, the Director develops the deepest
level understanding of customer (internal or external) needs -
particularly those tied to workforce productivity, and enterprise
enablement. These products are intended to influence and define
portfolio and technology strategy through combination of E2E
process automation, intelligent decisioning and AI-enhanced user
experiences. The Director will evangelize and lead the business
units through this transformation journey, helping teams adopt
AI-enhanced, automation-driven, experience-first mindsets to
deliver increased value to the Enterprise.
This strategy extends beyond the product and technology to include
strategy and Org design for the organization as well. The Director
is also responsible for attracting, hiring, retaining a high
performing, full stack, team of Product Managers, Software
Developers, architects, other members of technical staff, and
Managers to support automation and AI products and platforms. The
Director must ensure that the organization is positioned to adopt
rapidly evolving AI technologies aligned with enterprise standards
and responsible AI principles.
Finally, the Director is also directly accountable for cultivating
strong and collaborative with peer technology teams, business
units, enterprise AI leadership, and supporting vendors. This
leader will partner closely with enterprise AI teams to extend
model capabilities into actionable, integrated tools that enhance
internal team efficiency, reduce manual work, and unlock new
productivity through agentic experiences, AI-assisted operations,
and advanced automation platforms
Strategy, Vision, Analysis:
- Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with senior
internal customers within and outside of technology organization.
Intimately understands their business strategies, generates new
ideas, and develops a full stack product and technology strategy
that is appropriately aligned. This covers individual product &
engineering strategy as well as overarching strategy for portfolio
/ platform(s).
- Partner with enterprise AI team to align responsible use of
LLMs and AI models for IT and workforce scenarios while avoiding
overlap in foundational AI responsibilities.
- Oversee the development and deployment of agentic AI solutions
to enhance internal processes and employee productivity.
- Drive continuous improvement of T-Mobile universal assistant to
deliver additional capabilities to the enterprise ensuring that it
satisfies the growing needs of our workforce.
- Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for the adoption and
scaling of low-code platforms within the organization.
- Ensure alignment of low-code initiatives with overall business
objectives and technology strategy.
- Creates, owns, plans and manages a portfolio of high-quality
products & services through a lifecycle of envisioning / investing
/ innovating / sustaining / retiring. Defines KPI's and metrics to
measure Product and technical performance.
- Responsible for both internal and external software development
(on all aspects of cycle) required to deliver products.
- Ensure team activities, scope, priorities align with funding
and budgeted priorities.
- Regularly cascades to direct reports Vision, Strategy, and
goal-based communications from executive and direct
leadership.
- Develop and deliver training programs to upskill the enterprise
on low-code platforms
- Ability to drive innovation through the adoption of automation,
low-code technologies and methodologies.
- Develops change management and communications plans and
executes or drives execution connected with internal change
initiatives originated by direct leadership or IT leadership.
- Regularly conducts organizational design thinking / strategy to
best structure the team and leverage resources, using a mix of
employee, managed services, and other partners where applicable.
This includes periodic review of current and anticipated aggregate
staffing capacity.
- Develops and maintains culture, process, and consistent action
for continuous improvement across Agile teams.
- Maintains knowledge of new developments in area of specialty
and incorporates these innovations where appropriate. Drives
innovation, thought leadership, improvement and adoption of
industry leading practices in areas of Customer Innovation,
Customer Experience, Scaled Agile Product Delivery, Lean Product
Delivery, CI / CT / CD, cloud, microservices / container
architecture.
- Accountable for department budget, delivery and service
performance, optimizing cost of service delivery, ensuring services
are meeting or exceeding service levels.
- Contribute to overall IT strategy, policies and processes.
- Define frameworks and enable capabilities to support
development teams in modernizing legacy application architecture
and infrastructure to empower CI/CD.
Business & Technical Execution:
- Oversee, control and manage budget of capex/opex $15M -
$50M.
- Owns E2E technical delivery of automation, low code and GenAI
workforce productivity solutions, from product management,
requirements and DevOps of prioritized enterprise solutions and
capabilities.
- Fosters strong working relationships with high-dependency
delivery teams outside of reporting vertical (Engineering, other IT
teams outside immediate reporting structure).
- Owns technical operations of software, 24/7 response,
telemetry, overall health of products, and Site Reliability
Engineering (SRE) operational functions.
- Drives cost out of systems operations and maintains critical
technology roadmaps in place to continue to adapt to new
technologies.
- Leads and directs the continual improvement of enterprise-scale
services, processes and tools.
- Ensures effective cross-functional collaboration between
business and technology teams.
- Assists direct reports with ongoing prioritization and resource
allocation to ensure scope and outcomes are delivered.
- Develops and implements staff and operations models to support
systems for efficient, continuous availability.
- Creates and executes key vendor contracts and manages key
vendor relationships and delivery accountabilities.
- Drives appropriate customer communication, response and support
to identify, determine root cause, resolve production defects and
issues, or other operational issues
Leadership, Coaching, and Relationships:
- Creates clear and measurable goals for team aligned to company,
department, functional area objectives.
- Supports 5 - 10 (max) persons in direct reporting relationship;
most often direct reports are Managers/Senior Managers representing
full stack teams from product, architecture, development, UI/UX,
etc.
- Conducts regular 1:1's with direct reports.
- Regularly observes and creates opportunities to observe direct
reports and note positive, as well as constructive feedback. Shares
and reviews feedback with their direct reports in a timely
manner.
- Gathers regular feedback about direct report performance,
relationships, etc. from skip level employees, Agile teams,
customer teams and synthesizes the information into meaningful,
actionable feedback for their direct report(s).
- Develop formal and informal performance reviews in accordance
with company or IT driven timelines. Ensures proper, fair,
calibrate, timely completion of formal performance reviews across
all Managers and skip level employees.
- Develops or contributes to creation of development plans for
each direct report and performs an active role in completion of
actions noted in those development plans. Active succession plans
for the team are a part of this activity.
- Creates, communicates, and monitors formal performance
improvement plan (PIP) when necessary and appropriate.
- Provides regular, timely coaching, lateral (peer) and upward
feedback. Fosters culture in team to enable regular, timely,
constructive upward feedback.
- Fosters strong, collaborative relationships with customer and
customer representative groups at all levels for self and Product
team.
- Hire, manage, and develop a team of high performing People
Managers and individual contributors.
- Lead team through change, motivating and inspiring teams to do
their best work, and develop the team's knowledge and ability to
deliver on its mission.
Work Experience :
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management, with at
least 5 years in a leadership role.
- 7-10 years' experience leading large scale enterprise delivery
of agile software product development, specifically identifying and
delivering automation and workforce productivity solutions
leveraging AI. (Required)
- 7-10 years' experience managing teams of 5 or more Manager
level direct reports with skip level employees, along with vendor
partners, in a technology delivery organization. (Required)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Experience with automation, low code, generative AI and chatbot
technologies is necessary. (Required)
- In-depth knowledge of automation, low code and generative AI
technologies and their application in an enterprise setting.

- Business Operations Demonstrates complete mastery of business
side skills (communication, customer research, product vision,
feature definition), as well as technical architecture, Dev, and
execution skills. (Required)
- Customer Experience Management Mastery level (industry leading)
understanding of customer experience. (Required)
- Mastery level understanding of RPA/low code platform
technologies and components such as security, performance,
optimization, API integration.
- Experience in delivering large and complex business/technology
process automation initiatives.

- Agile Methodologies Proven success in directing matrixed
resources and delivering software, with Agile Scrum methodologies
and other commonly used tools, across multiple teams.

Base Pay Range: $179,600 - $243,000
Corporate Bonus Target: 25%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful
candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will
be based on various factors, such as qualifications and experience,
so the actual starting pay will vary within this range. Most
Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on
company and/or individual performance and which is set at a
percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior
year.
