Job Description:
The Field Supervisor (FS) manages field data collection for
survey research projects conducted by RTI International (RTI). FSs
recruit, train, and manage remote staff to ensure that field data
collection activities are carried out in an efficient and
cost-effective manner, that data collected are of the highest
possible quality, and all activities are conducted in a
professional manner following established protocols. RTI is
currently seeking a survey research FS to work on the
government-sponsored research study called the National Survey of
Mental Health (NSMH). During field data collection, the FS position
is intended to provide quality control, production management, and
Field Interviewer (FI) support and oversight. The FS will help
recruit, train, coach and supervise FIs, perform administrative
duties related to the project, and monitor and manage productivity,
costs, and work quality. This position will begin in April 2021 and
last through December 2021. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES * Recruit, hire,
and retain a team of approximately 20 field interviewers (FIs),
including some bilingual interviewers needed to conduct work in
Spanish. * Supervise and support a team of interviewers in your
assigned areas who will conduct rostering and screening at
respondents' homes, and possibly jails throughout the data
collection period. * Prepare FI work assignments to ensure
cost-effective field implementation as well as adjust FI work
assignments, as necessary, to ensure adherence to project schedule
and attainment of established performance requirements. * Review FI
production, time, and expense reports to ensure timely, accurate,
and reasonable project charges as well as provide feedback to
research associates on their performance, noting areas of strength
and areas worthy of improvement. * Meet performance expectations in
areas of efficiency, quality, rostering and screening completion
rates, and schedule while maintaining confidentiality * Participate
in weekly individual and group conference calls with Regional
Supervisor (RS). * Conduct weekly individual and group conference
calls with FIs. * Serve as liaison between RTI project management
and field interviewers, including providing immediate feedback and
on-going training when required. QUALIFICATIONS * High school
graduate * Success directly or indirectly related to experience in
field interviewing * Successful experience with field data
collection activities * Demonstrated ability to recruit and work
with field staff in a role requiring schedule maintenance, problem
resolution, quality control, implementation, performance
monitoring, and evaluation * Personal automobile available for
business use, as required * Applicants must be at least 21 years of
age by the first date of employment * Fluency in Spanish preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: * Be available to work on the project
beginning in April 2021 to December 2021 for at least 40 hours per
week. * Provide and maintain regular access to a reliable wireless
internet connection in your home for data transmissions and
required system updates to project equipment (installation and
equipment costs, service fees, and related expenses to access an
internet connection and computer are not reimbursable). * Use a
project-provided laptop computer to obtain reports, make case
assignments, and email with project staff. * Maintain good
communication with and be accessible to field interviewers to
provide support and answer questions that may arise outside of the
weekly conference calls. * Be available for overnight travel, as
required. * Experience and/or willingness to conduct interviews in
jails as circumstances allow in 2021 (including passing a
background check). * When working in the field, must be willing to
agree to any COVID-19-related protocols put in place by RTI.These
could include, among others, wearing face coverings, taking
temperature daily, social distancing with survey respondents, and
completing a health pledge. All safety supplies required for use on
the project will be provided by RTI. TRAINING: * Attend and assist
with 5-day virtual interviewer Project Trainings to be held in May,
June, and July 2021. * Read the FS Manual, the FI Manual, and
tablet manual to become familiar with project procedures as well as
hardware and software used on the project. PAY: Salary for this
position will be approximately $2240 per bi-weekly pay period
depending on experience. RTI International is an independent,
