You will learn to encourage, support and empower individuals with daily tasks like getting out of bed which can be a hurdle sometimes, up to being out in the community, going to a party and dancing or working on a personal goal.Job Description:We are looking for Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to care for our clients and support them to live full and meaningful lives. As a DSP, you will follow guidelines and specific instructions pertaining to our clients individual care plans. You will assist with personal care needs and encourage meaningful interactions between clients and the community.We are looking for individuals that are mindful of our clients abilities while assisting them where needed in an empathetic manner that encourages their independence. Top candidates are reliable, accountable, compassionate, patient, respectful and can work cooperatively with others toward a common goal.Qualifications:Provided: CPR/First Aid/AED training & other state required certifications. CNA option with 1 year commitment.*Must be at least 18 years old *High school diploma or equivalent *Pass an FBI background check * Valid drivers license (required for certain shifts) *CPR certification and all other state required trainings*Comfortable working independently and can consistently make good judgements that ensure the health and safety of clients *Flexible, with a keen ability to handle stress well *A friendly disposition with a positive can-do attitude *Enjoys working with developmentally disabled individuals to improve their quality of life *Can quickly manage stressful situations responsibly and effectively *Strong interpersonal skills *Ability to move and stand for prolonged periods and frequently perform physically demanding tasks (e.g. lifting 35 lbs., twisting and bending, Hoyer, tie- downs, repositioning and PC care/showing needs)Direct Support Professional Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining an environment that ensure clients health and safety
  • Advancing clients decision-making, productivity and participation in a range of activities that nurtures their needs, self-expression and goals
  • Promoting independence in daily activities and facilitate clients inclusion in their community
  • Assisting with and working to strengthen clients daily living needs including but not limited to nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication and socialization skills
  • Delivering individualized training, encouragement and care in compliance with healthcare professionals instructionsExpectation and duties:
    • Work cooperatively within your team. (e.g. show up to all scheduled shifts on time, be willing to fill-in for others when possible, support the success of team-members through mentoring, be open to feedback about your own performance, resolve issues professionally and refrain from gossip, complete as many tasks as possible during your shift, attend all mandatory team meetings and participate in Kokuas yearly performance evaluation)
    • Proficient understanding of all care plans, protocols and procedures for the clients in your care
    • Uphold KokuasCode of Ethics
    • Maintain compliance with all required trainings and certifications
    • Uphold your mandatory reporting responsibility
    • Be knowledgeable of all Kokua policies and procedures
    • Thoroughly and professionally complete required documentation per WAC and Kokua policy
    • Follow the safety training guidelines to assure a safe workplace environment
