Description Calling a Physical Therapist (1.0 FTE/40 hours per week, Days) to work in our Pediatrics Department withinin Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA. Apply Today! The Physical Therapist, as directed by a health care practitioner, performs PT evaluations, establishes treatment plans with goals, provides treatment, delegates specific treatments, determines appropriate equipment needs and performs discharge activities. They must interact with patients, families and staff in a manner that portrays a positive image for the department. In this position you will:

  • Provide quality therapy services including assessment, re-assessment, development of care plan including goal setting, intervention, patient/family/caregiver education, and discharge planning for a wide range of diagnoses
  • Demonstrate knowledge of contraindications for therapy evaluation/treatment
  • Develop a therapy plan of care in consideration of the psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and socioeconomic concerns of the patient and family
  • Utilize age-appropriate knowledge for treatment planning and demonstrates the ability to serve and communicate appropriately with the following age groups as applicable: Neonate; Pediatric; Adolescent
  • When necessary, seek additional information from appropriate sources
  • Assess the effectiveness of treatment and modifies treatment/plan to achieve goals
  • Evaluate, recommend and assist in obtaining adaptive equipment
  • Provide consultation or makes appropriate referrals regarding resources in the community
  • Safe patient handling techniques are utilized for all patient care
  • Document care with concise, high quality, defensible documentation
  • Provide care in accordance with physician orders and the established plan of care
  • Communicate pertinent medical and clinical information
  • Documentation reflects clinical skill, meets billing and reimbursement requirements, and is consistent with professional practices, regulatory agencies
  • Provide appropriate updated progress reports to physicians for necessary changes in treatment plan
  • Meet time guidelines for completing documentation
  • Maintain an understanding of insurance regulations, coverages, and limitations as pertinent to the caseload
  • Actively participate in the continued development and success of the department
  • Provide supervision for Physical Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Aides, and students per regulatory guidelines
  • Participate in orientation, training, and mentoring of staff members
  • Demonstrate a professional and respectful demeanor using excellent communication skills with patients/families/caregivers, interdisciplinary team, referring providers, and insurance agencies
  • Meet productivity standards established for therapy
  • Demonstrate efficient and effective use of time, supplies, and resources
  • Participate in program planning, gives input to program policy discussions particularly in those areas impacting patient care
  • Meet regulations, continuing education, policy and procedure regulations
  • Complete annual regulatory education and competencies
  • Complete community continuing education needed to remain clinically current in evaluation/treatment techniques and to maintain professional licensure
  • Follow all hospital policies/procedures Required qualifications for this position includes:
    • Bachelor's Degree/Master's Degree/D.P.T. in Physical Therapy
    • WA State PT Licensure -or- Physical Therapy Compact Privilege in the State of WA
    • American Heart Association (AHA) - Basic Life Support (BLS) Preferred qualifications for this position include:
