Center (Connell, WA) The Department of Corrections is seeking a
highly motivated and qualified individual for the role of
Psychology Associate for the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC)
located in Connell, WA. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday
with a day shift schedule. The Psychology Associate position plays
a key role in providing access to mental health services for
incarcerated individuals. This position improves public safety by
assisting in the implementation of evidence-based Mental Health
therapies and services to incarcerated patients; both those that
will be released in the future and those who will remain
incarcerated. A completed application packet will include: A

to apply as early as possible. Screens incoming individuals for
mental health conditions and symptoms and uses clinical judgment
Refers to DOC Policy and established protocols to assign case
priority and determine level of care. Conducts clinical interviews
of identified/assigned patients for the purpose of obtaining
background information, current level of functioning, assessing
signs and symptoms of mental illness, determining provisional
diagnoses, and evaluating treatment needs. Obtains collateral
and/or historical information about individual Psycho-diagnostic
testing of patients. Uses clinical judgment and the DSM5 to
formulate diagnoses for assigned patients and thoroughly documents
the basis for those diagnoses. Provides clinical mental health
therapy 1 on 1 and in groups. Works collaboratively with psychiatry
staff to aid in the management of patient therapy and medications.
Works as part of a team with all health services disciplines
(medical, nursing, dental, etc.) to manage/provide good quality
patient care. Provides crisis response and assessment for
incarcerated individuals. Required Qualifications: Washington State
Mental Health Counselor License or eligible to apply and obtain
Agency Affiliated Registration within 60 days of appointment.
Master's degree in Psychology from an accredited school or
department of psychology whose accreditation is recognized by the
U.S. Dept. of Education or the Council for Higher Education
Accreditation (CHEA), AND one year of supervised work experience
providing individual or group therapy to individuals with mental
illness. Alternative Educational Requirement: Master's or Doctoral
degree in marriage and family therapy, behavioral sciences, mental
health counseling, or social work from an accredited graduate
school whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Dept. of
Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA),
AND two years of supervised work experience providing psychological
services in a mental health facility or like agency. Must obtain
status as an Agency Affiliated Counselor through the Washington DOH
OR possess a Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family
Therapist, or Social Worker license from the State of Washington.
Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnoses and their basic criteria. Knowledge of
various psychotherapeutic modalities including cognitive/behavioral
modalities. Each employee is expected to maintain and adhere to the
continuing education requirements for the applicable professional
credential. Each employee must adhere to the legislation and/or law
changes that may affect current licensure and/or registration
requirements. An agency affiliated counselor may only provide
counseling services as part of his/her employment for a recognized
agency. Applicants for agency affiliated counselor credential who
apply within 7 days of employment may provide services within the
agency for up to 60 days while the Department of Health processes
your application. Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree in
psychology from an accredited school or department of psychology or
Master's degree in psychology and two years of supervised, post
Master's degree experience. At least one year of experience working
independently and effectively to develop to provide individual and
group therapies. Experience linking clients with resources within
institutions and/or community. Experience working in a
collaborative fashion as part of the multidisciplinary treatment
team. Official Washington State Licensure as a Mental Health
