Job Description:
Phlebotomist at Providence Health and Services summary: The
Phlebotomist performs clinical laboratory duties including blood
sample collection, specimen processing, and patient registration.
They operate laboratory equipment and ensure proper communication
with patients and healthcare staff. Additional responsibilities may
include EKG performance, drug and alcohol screening, and training
new staff as assigned. Description Phlebotomist is responsible for
clinical laboratory duties, including: All Sites: Reception and
Telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment
including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling: receiving and
processing; prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference
Laboratories; specimen/patient registration; phlebotomy -
collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick;
therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific Micro
samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training
new staff as assigned. If assigned to a site where offered:
Dispatch functions, EKG performance, collection of DOT and non-DOT
drug screens, for cause drug screens (HR), and Breath Alcohol
Testing (BAT); clinic relief fill-in Communication Requirements:
respectful and patient communications (written and verbal) with
patients, clients, other lab staff, and caregivers from other

Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification 6 months
Direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a
Phlebotomy program. Preferred Qualifications: Coursework/Training
Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training Program/Course approved by
