individuals who have been convicted of a sex offense to register
with our Public Safety Department. This is true whether or not you
have to register with any other jurisdiction. ICW/Vulnerable
Adults. This position has regular contact with or control over
Indian Children and Vulnerable Adults. In compliance with Federal
Law, this position will not be filled by an applicant with any
felonious offense or any of two or more misdemeanor offenses under
Federal, State, or Tribal Law involving crimes of violence; sexual
assault, molestation, exploitation, contact, or prostitution;
crimes against persons; or offenses committed against children.
*This position requires a fingerprint check, which is a standard
procedure for many jobs, especially those involving children or
vulnerable populations. The Nisqually Indian Tribe is developing a
Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) facility on Pacific Ave in
Olympia, Washington to address the opioid crisis within the
Thurston County area. The Nisqually Indian Tribe is passionate
about developing a whole person recovery model, keeping all
services under one roof so the patient has the best possible chance
of recovery. Our goal is to bring healing and wellness to the
community, focusing on the entire family by serving tribal and
non-tribal patients. GENERAL SUMMARY The Nurse Practitioner is
responsible for caring for patients, maintaining accurate and
current medical records, administering follow-up appointments and
dose evaluations for OUD medications. This position provides
primary medical care to patients enrolled in the program for
treatment of substance use disorders. This position ensures
confidentiality, security, and accuracy of records, and promotes
positive employee, customer, and community relations. Strong
written and verbal communication skills are required and
outstanding customer service to fellow employees, customers,
vendors, etc. is expected. Regular attendance is required, later
hours or weekend time may be required, and a neat well-groomed
professional appearance is essential at all times. PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES Provides primary care patients of the Nisqually
Generations Healing Center with appropriate clinical management
which may include prescription of medications, referrals, and
education/counselling. Manages common health issues that arise
including Hepatitis C, Wound Management, URI, HTN, and asthma.
Diagnoses or treats complex, unstable, comorbid, episodic, or
emergency conditions in collaboration with other health care
providers as necessary. Provides medical services including taking
a history and physical examination for the opiate treatment program
and performs appropriate follow-up visits. Accurately and
efficiently monitor daily doses of Methadone/Buprenorphine
(Suboxone/Subutex) or other medications as indicated by the
physician. Develops treatment plans, based on scientific rationale,
standards of care, and professional practice guidelines. Provides
general health counseling services under the supervision of the
Medical Director and follows the progress of patients. Makes
appropriate records of findings during examinations and submits
charts to the Medical Doctor for review and signature. Educates
patients regarding how to take prescribed medication and possible
side effects. Monitors organization-wide performance improvement
activities as a member of the clinic medical team and participates
in staff meetings and/or c Ensure security and confidentiality of
all program data and operate in accordance with applicable
regulations of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
(HIPAA) and 42 CFR Part 2. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Must be a Licensed
Nurse Practitioner in good standing with the State of Washington.
Five years' experience of professional work as a Nurse
Practitioner. Previous substance abuse treatment and/or primary
care experience. Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's
license and maintain a driving record that meets the minimum
requirements established by Nisqually Indian Tribes vehicle
insurance provider. Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
and criminal background check. The ability to work with vulnerable
populations including adults and children. Must pass a State and
National (FBI) criminal history background check prior to
employment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Several years of experience in
substance abuse treatment and primary care settings Knowledge of
the Nisqually Indian Tribe's history, customs, traditions, and
ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity. Experience working
with Federally Recognized Tribes. SUPERVISION This position does
not supervise. COMPETENCIES Knowledge of: Current medical practices
in primary care, mental health, and addiction medicine. Management
of sexually acquired illnesses, Hep C, family planning and
familiarity with prenatal care beneficial. Information and
techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases,
and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives,
drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care
measures. Tribal, Federal, and state laws, codes, and regulations.
HIPAA and PHI requirements. Knowledge and adherence to state (RCW,
WAC) and federal confidentiality regulations (42 CFR part 2) Common
office and administrative procedures. Trauma and its impact on
wellness and recovery. Skilled in: Operating a personal computer
and standard office programs and equipment. Organizational
management practices. Exceptional written and verbal communication
abilities. Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Commitment to providing excellent customer service. Motivational
interviewing (MI) skills or a desire to learn MI. Ability to: Work
in a computer-based environment, especially Microsoft Windows. Work
in a cross-cultural environment and understand the social and
cultural contexts of patients. Prioritize multiple tasks amidst
frequent interruptions. Establish and maintain effective working
relationships with patients, staff, and external agencies. Maintain
personal, professional, and ethical boundaries. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand;
