The Central Mason Fire & EMS is currently building an ongoing eligibility list for Firefighter/EMT. This position requires FireTEAM and a valid CPAT. Candidate Contact: National Testing Network Support 8665633882 support@nationaltestingnetwork.com Department Overview: Central Mason Fire & EMS (CMFE) is a combination fire department serving 25,000 citizens within 156 square miles of suburban and rural coverage in Washington States South Puget Sound Region. CMFE sits just over 30 miles southwest of Seattle and 25 miles northwest of the state capital in Olympia. CMFE answered 5,720 calls for service in 2017. CMFE is the largest and busiest department in Mason County. Currently, CMFE operates three staffed stations and eight volunteer stations in the City of Shelton and the communities of Allyn, Victor, Lake Limerick, Mason Lake, Pickering, Agate, Deer Creek, Harstine Island, and Johns Prairie. CMFE protects almost one half of Mason Countys population. In addition, CMFE participates in a countywide mutual-aid agreement and provides automatic mutual-aid to 13 other fire departments. Our full-time staff consists of one chief, one deputy chief/fire marshal, three shift captains, six lieutenants, 18 firefighters (13 certified as paramedics), one firefighter/mechanic, and two administrative support staff members. Our volunteer staff includes 36 firefighters. CMFE provides both basic and advanced life support emergency medical services. The CMFE coverage area includes several pieces of critical infrastructure to the region, including: 13 schools, one community college, three major highways, a major natural gas pipeline, the rail line leading to the Navy SUBBASE Bangor and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, as well as the transmission lines that power the entire Olympic Peninsula. In addition, CMFEs response area includes three popular state parks. Since CMFE protects 106 miles of shoreline, it is not uncommon for us to see our population triple during the warm summer months. On September 1, 2008, CMFE entered into an inter-local agreement to provide services to the City of Shelton. Shelton is the seat for Mason County and the only incorporated city within the county. This agreement added 6 square miles and a population of 9,834 to the districts coverage area. To date, the results from the consolidation of both departments by inter-local agreement have been positive and have led to improved services to the citizens in both the city and the district.
