We have a great opportunity in our Lynnwood WorkSource office for a dynamic non-permanent customer focused Employment Connections Specialist.

Through compassion and patience our WorkSource offices provide our customers with information about the full range of agency services and programs and directs them to the appropriate internal or external resources and support services. Whether in-person or now virtually our Employment Connections Specialists are a critical piece of our mission of providing our services to job seekers and employers.

As an Employment Specialist you will identify components applicable to the customer's need you then determine eligibility and/or appropriateness for each program. Your phenomenal computer and communication skills will be relied upon as you enroll and explain program participation requirements. You will work with our customers to develop employment and training plans and agreements.


What a typical day looks like:

  • Provide staff-assisted customer services.

  • Identify components applicable to customer need.

  • Direct customers to appropriate internal and external resources and/or support services.

  • Facilitate job preparation activities to include job applications skill development and orientations

  • Understand regulations and policies administered by federal and other state agencies

All WorkSource staff currently telework due to COVID-19.

This position will resume normal in office work when it is safe and upon staff returning to WorkSource offices.


  • A combination of education and/or relevant experience* totaling no less than six (6) years.


  • A Bachelor's degree in social science, business administration or related field.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in workforce development, social or human resource services, public relations, or professional public contact work.* 


  • One (1) year of experience as a WorkSource Specialist 2 within the Employment Security Department, or in an equivalent class with another state's Employment Security agency.  
  • Such as: customer service, unemployment insurance, social services, human resource services, education, public relations, benefits programs, insurance claims, law enforcement and banking.*

A Master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.


Additional Requirements of Employment:

  • Once it is safe according to state and local ordinances, this position may involve travel.
  • Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim & Benefit Information Review.
