21-22 Lifeline Connections Recovery Support Specialist

Company: Americorps
Location: Olympia
Posted on: June 12, 2021

Job Description:

21-22 Lifeline Connections Recovery Support Specialist

Lifeline Connections provides treatment for people with substance use and mental health disorders. People who are early in their recovery from what are often long-term behavioral health conditions frequently need a caring, supportive and knowledgeable community to help them stabilize and strengthen their new-found behavioral health. The AmeriCorps Recovery Support Specialist will help these individuals build positive, productive lives. Even though research proves that treatment works, stigma surrounding substance use disorders prevents as many as 90% of people who need treatment from seeking it or getting it. Perhaps even more troubling, researchers estimate that more than 2/3 of individuals in recovery relapse within weeks or months of entering treatment. Many experience a combination of both a substance use and a mental health disorder, further complicating the process of recovery. This project will help adults and youth who have completed treatment stay on the path of recovery by offering compassion, guidance, access to specific recovery support services, and a friendly and welcoming environment where new relationships can be formed and individuals can learn to meet life's challenges without the use of illicit drugs or alcohol. This project will also provide access to naloxone and provide overdose prevention education and training. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
