Providence is calling a Compassionate Companion (0.5 FTE, 20 hours per week Variable Shift) to work in Spiritual Care Chaplains at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington. This position will be required to work also at Centralia Hospital, Centralia, WA.Apply Today! Applicants that meet qualifications will receive a text with some additional questions from our Modern Hire system.The Compassionate Companion is responsible to accompany patients who are dying without family or friends able to be present. They also provide relief care for dying patients whose families need temporary relief for sleep and or to attend to personal needs.In this position, you will:

  • Respond to and monitor vigil requests in a timely manner and effectively assist in coordination with the nursing staff and interdisciplinary team.
  • Accompany and honor each patient that has been assessed for this service.
  • Provide emotional support to those patients who are experiencing anxiety, loneliness and distress due to absence of family during this time of COVID-19.
  • Understand role and responsibility in complying with facility and unit specific safety and security policies, plans and procedures.
  • Follow facility and unit specific infection control, safety and OSHA guidelines and procedures.
  • Adhere to facility organizational and departmental confidentiality policies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of patient rights and responsibilities.Qualifications:Required qualifications for this position include:
    • Two (2) years professional experience in a healthcare settingPreferred qualifications for this position include:
      • College Degree
      • Completion of "NO ONE DIES ALONE" training program
      • Four (4) years professional experience in a healthcare setting
      • One (1) year experience with end-of-life, dying and death process
