DSHS Child Support Enforcement Officer 1-2 (in-training)

The Economic Services Administration, Division of Child Support is currently seeking Support Enforcement Officers to join our team in Kennewick, Washington. In this role, you independently initiate and authorize the establishment, collection, distribution, and/or modification and enforcement of financial, medical, interstate, and other child support obligations on an assigned caseload.



We allow a hybrid telework option where you'd typically work 1-4 days a week in the office.



Some of what you'll do:

* Work with parents, attorneys, and advocates to establish child support obligations and apply sanctions should they not comply with the terms of those obligations
* Independently establish administrative child support orders by researching and locating income information, calculating complex financial and medical obligations, calculating arrears balances as required, preparing and serving legal notices, and negotiating settlements as appropriate
* Analyze, interpret and apply State, Tribal, Federal and International laws pertaining to the legal determination of paternity, and the establishment and enforcement of financial and medical child support
* Review and interpret court and administrative child support orders to determine when obligations may be suspended or terminated, the support amount, and the frequency at which support is charged
* Utilize divisional signature authority to initiate and sign legal notices, including correspondence with clients, courts, and other Washington state agencies
* Locate individuals and assets utilizing state interfaces such as Employment Security, Department of Revenue, Department of Licensing, Labor and Industries, the Federal Parent Locate Service, and the Social Security Administration
* Maintain a caseload of child support cases utilizing the Support Enforcement Management System and effective management skills

Who should apply?



Professionals with two years of college-level coursework and 2 years of experience in child support enforcement and/or debt collection-related functions. (Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute year for year).

OR

Two years of experience as a Child Support Enforcement Technician in Washington state service.

Applicants who have been determined to meet minimum qualifications for the Support Enforcement Officer 1-2 opportunity will be asked to take an assessment examination for further consideration. The assessment examination will be scheduled and proctored at a test location in Washington state. This does not ensure an interview or that you will be hired but is necessary for evaluation purposes.



These are in-training opportunities, and with successful completion of a one-year training program, you will become a Support Enforcement Officer 2!
