Chemours is seeking a Senior Process Engineer with expertise in Aqueous Electrolyte Systems to join our growing Engineering Technology team! This full-time position will report directly to the Engineering Senior Manager and is located at Chemours headquarters in Wilmington, DE or remotely near manufacturing sites in the mid-Ohio Valley, Tennessee Valley, Carolinas or Gulf Coast regions.
The successful candidate will join a diverse team of technical experts who provide high-value, innovative engineering solutions to Chemours global chemical businesses in support of research and development, plant operations, and new capital projects.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:



  • Provide aqueous process chemistry support to R&D, manufacturing, process development, capital project, environmental and sustainability teams


  • Support manufacturing teams with challenges in fouling, corrosion, dissolution, and crystallization


  • Consult with manufacturing and R&D groups in the areas of physical properties and phase equilibria (VLE, VLLE, LLE, SLE) for aqueous systems


  • Produce thermodynamics data packages for and potentially develop models of chemical processes using simulation software such as Aspen Plus or OLI Flowsheet


  • Develop and deliver training on topics of interest in aqueous thermodynamics


    The following is required for this role:


    • Accredited degree in chemical engineering or chemistry (BS, MS, or PhD)


    • 5+ years of relevant post-degree work experience


    • Experience troubleshooting challenges with fouling, corrosion, dissolution, crystallization, and related phenomena in aqueous industrial chemical processes


    • A comprehensive knowledge of aqueous thermodynamics including expertise in electrolyte systems


    • Experience with activity coefficient models and equation of state models


    • A valid passport and ability to sustain a travel rate of 10 - 20% (mostly domestic)


      The following is preferred for this role:


      • Experience with one or more thermodynamics modeling packages (OLI AQ or MSE, FactSage, Aspen Plus, Thermo-Calc, MTDATA, etc.)


      • Proficiency with assignment of transport properties (viscosity, conductivity, etc.) to complex chemical systems


      • Expertise in the application of thermodynamics models in chemical process simulation software


      • Expertise in high temperature thermodynamics and modeling

        Pay Range (in local currency):
        $105,280.00 - $164,500.00

        Annual Bonus Target:
        11%
