Job Description:

Purpose: Oversee the effective and efficient management and maintenance of all parish buildings and grounds that span over multiple properties and sites, including a school and cemetery and multiple worship sites. This includes janitorial, safety, security, and energy management systems for the parish.
Responsibility: Collaborates with the Pastor and Pastoral Assistant for Administration (PAA) in implementing the mission of the parish. -This is accomplished by participating in the comprehensive planning, implementation and evaluation of the parish's goals and objectives, with specific focus on stewardship of the parish's buildings, equipment, and grounds. -Serves as a professional resource to staff regarding building operations and maintenance. -

  • This is accomplished by overseeing the implementation of schedules for all maintenance and custodial personnel. Performing required maintenance when needed and feasible, and/or by contracting with others. -Incumbent also evaluates the methods and procedures used in performing the maintenance and custodial duties and revises them as necessary.
  • - - - - - - - -Incumbent provides direct supervision to the maintenance and janitorial staff. This includes regular meetings, when appropriate corrective actions and annual evaluations. -
  • - - - - - - - -Incumbent participates in the recruitment and hiring process of new maintenance and custodial staff. Is responsible for training, motivating, supporting, scheduling and evaluating staff. -Incumbent also recommends to the PAA termination of staff
  • - - - - - - -Manage our parish/school maintenance request system.
  • - - - - - - - -Incumbent represents the parish when dealing with outside contractors in all major maintenance, construction and renovation projects.
  • - - - - - - - -If construction and or renovation project is approved, incumbent serves as liaison between the parish and the contractor(s) and vendors in overseeing the completion of work.
  • - - - - - - - -Incumbent identifies outside contractors, vendors and service providers and negotiates contracts.
  • - - - - - - - -Oversees the on-going maintenance of buildings and grounds.
  • - - - - - - - -Conducts periodic maintenance checks on the HVAC equipment, as well as all plumbing, electrical, drainage, time, and security systems. Incumbent notifies PAA if/when current systems need to be replaced.
  • - - - - - - - -Responsible for maintaining and updating our 10 year plan for maintenance needs and expected expensive. This is done in collaboration with the PAA.
  • - - - - - - - -Develop and implement a schedule for addressing the asbestos problems of the parish's facilities, consistent with Archdiocesan guidelines.
  • - - - - - - - -Purchases supplies and equipment from vendors. This include cleaning and Sunday hospitality supplies.
  • - - - - - - - -Incumbent develops a seasonal work plan for lawn and shrub care, roof cleaning, snow removal, and parking lot and walkways maintenance.
  • - - - - - - - -Directs and implements the annual and long range work plan regarding plant operations and maintenance.
  • - - - - - - - -Supervisors the Director of Cemetery and cemetery operations.
  • - - - - - - - -As Safety Officer incumbent directs safety program. -Maintains vigilance regarding safety issues either present or potential and acts effectively to promptly correct or protect persons and property from danger or damage. Remains current of safety compliance requirements and sees that they are met.
  • - - - - - - - -Prepares and administers facility annual operating budgets. When budget is approved, assures the monthly monitoring of expenses and revenue; authorizes expenditures for all facilities related bills (e.g. gas, electric, water, etc.)
  • - - - - - - - -Assures upkeep for vehicles owned by the parish.
  • - - - - - - - -Coordinates land purchase and sale transactions as appropriate.
  • - - - - - - - -Assures security of facilities, including key access systems.
  • - - - - - - - -Coordinates the parish energy management program by educating staff and building users about energy and conservation and by recommending and maintaining equipment that is energy efficient. - - -
  • - - - - - - - -Is available on-call 24 hours/day for emergencies.
  • - - - - - - - -Assures necessary facilities-related support to all parish programs and special events.
  • - - - - - - - -Maintains current level of knowledge and skills required to perform the job. -This is accomplished by reading, and by attendance at workshops and classes. -Incumbent also maintains membership/affiliation with appropriate professional organizations.
